Bio
Johnny has performed stand up comedy in all 50 states. He headlined over 250 colleges and was voted “Hot Comic 2009″ by Campus Activities Magazine. Johnny was featured at the “Just For Laughs” TBS Las Vegas Comedy Festival and appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Johnny’s comedy songs have been broadcast nationally including NPR, All Comedy Radio and The Dr Demento Show. He is a regular performer at The Hollywood Improv and The Laugh Factory.
Johnny wrote and performed a standup show, “Johnny Walker’s Father Material” that was produced by The Comedy Central Stage in the fall of 2011. His first live comedy album, “A Really Intimate Experience” was recorded at Go Bananas Comedy Club in Cincinnati Ohio and released in the fall of 2011.
Johnny grew up in West Hartford, CT. ”When I was a child, I’d dress up as Peter Pan almost every day. Then, I was captain of the baseball team and sang in The Madrigal Choir in high school” he recalls. ”I guess that means I like to wear tights.”
Walker graduated from Yale University with degrees in Political Science and History and traveled the globe as a member of the school’s famed a cappella group, The Whiffenpoofs. He then graduated from The Second City Conservatory and further studied improv comedy with The Groundlings and Upright Citizens Brigade Theater.
Johnny released musical comedy albums of political satire, “Slamming Bush with Johnny Walker” in 2004 and “American Standards” in 2008. He campaigned widely during both elections in battleground states Ohio, Pennsylvania and Missouri. He initiated skirmishes in crimson states including Texas, Kansas, Alabama, Nebraska, Iowa and Georgia where he riled up quite a few locals. Johnny blames the Bush Administration for the fiery political direction of his comedy during those eight years.
Instead of politics, Walker chose less controversial subjects for his 2010 album of musical comedy, “Stuffed Animal Instincts,” which focuses on sex and children. The album was recorded and produced by VAVV Studios in Hollywood and mastered by Capitol Records and received significant airplay on The Dr Demento Show. Dr Demento placed “Give You a Baby” in the “Funny 25 of 2010.”
Walker’s been slightly visible on television, starring in The Oxygen Network’s “Boys Behaving Badly” and featured on “Breaking Up with Shannen,” a show where he helped former 90210 star Shannen Doherty make other people’s breakups into gotcha reality-show entertainment. BET’s “Hell Date” and The Sci Fi Network’s “Scare Tactics” where a tiny caveman ripped Johnny’s face off, are proud highlights of his television career. In the summer of 2010, Johnny starred in a pilot alongside Ving Rhames, Tiny Lister and Guy Torry.
Johnny lives in Los Angeles with his beautiful wife and adorable daughter.
